A bit about We Are Joy:
Melanie worked for weeks to create the framework of "We Are Joy" and then an idea came with joyous words and music, “And when He comes we will sing…” That gave us a new excitement and direction for the song. We performed it with a soloist and 22 women in the back-up choir and it’s really a joy to sing! We hope you enjoy it. |

Writing The Sabbath Is a Sign:
When our family was young, Sundays were spent wrestling little boys into shirts and ties and uncomfortable shoes and walking the halls at church with babies, wondering how this is a day of “rest.” During this time we heard a remarkable talk given by James E. Faust called “The Lord’s Day.” He quoted a scripture that captured my imagination. “Verily, my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.” Ex. 31:13. I loved that idea. The sabbath is a sign! I started studying on my own and found wonderful promises in the scriptures about keeping the sabbath day holy. We decided to write an album of songs to teach children about why we keep the sabbath day holy and how we can call it “a delight”, as Isaiah says. The Sabbath Is a Sign came from that effort. Sundays really didn’t get easier with four energetic little boys but our perspective changed. We knew we were doing something important, something that linked us through the generations to Adam, honoring an ancient covenant as old as time. |

We love going to the ocean. There is nothing quite as awesome as standing on the shore and feeling all its power. In our song “He is Coming,” from our album, "He is Coming - New Songs for a New Time," we used images of the power and motion of the waves to describe the gathering momentum of events that will lead to the return of Jesus Christ to the earth. We are excited to create new music for the times we’re living in! |
